And This Is Why You Shouldn’t Get Sick In America

Many believe that the US healthcare system is the best in the world. Not so according to the World Health Organization’s ranking of the world’s health systems. The US doesn’t even rank in the top 25. It ranks 37th and is the most expensive in the world. I would argue that even if we had the best healthcare system in the world, what good is it, if no one can afford to access it.

Most companies are buying 60/40-policys for their employees these days, but even if you are lucky enough to have good insurance with 80/20-policy coverage, that 20 percent your responsible for can drive you right into bankruptcy as easily as the 60-40 policy given the cost of healthcare.

Insurance cost have been going up dramatically in the last two decades, long before the new Affordable Healthcare Act has taken affect, in some cases as much as 35% per year.

But have you noticed the latest trick the insurance companies have roll out?

Yes, Higher Deductible… most averaging $5,000 per year, per person, but I have seen some as high as $10,000 per year. For those of you that are wondering, this tactic is specifically designed too stop you from using your insurance. It reduces the insurance companies out of pocket liability by shift costs onto consumers, especially those dealing with chronic illness such as diabetes and arthritis. Consequently, because consumers can’t afford the deductible they will avoid necessary care to save money.

Although insurance companies are a problem, the real crocks is the healthcare system it self. A corrupt and bloated system desperately in need of reform!

Lets all agree that health insurance execs will be the first to be guillotined

This is exactly why I don’t want to be alive. I can’t afford it

I can only afford the insurance through my school and have the hardest time finding a doctor who accepts it lol, fun times.

America is a joke.

aside from the one about the allergic reaction, I’d say these are all legit. I’ve personally told patients that their individual deductible is anywhere from $5000-$10000 as well. so that’s legit.

moral of the story: never, ever, ever go to the emergency room, unless you are actually physically dying.

This is important.

CAN WE JUST GET ANGRY ABOUT THIS NOW AND FUCKING RIOT

because my mother works 14 hours a fucking day, she is in pain every time she moves but SHE WON’T GO TO A FUCKING DOCTOR because this is going to happen and though she works so much we’re still paying debt from hospital bill from 20 years ago when my brother had to get surgery as a child or face death, which he did 18 years later anyways. The health system in america is a fucking scam.

the rich get richer, the poor will break their backs and become servants for them

I AM SO ANGRY AND I HATE THIS COUNTRY and it is completely warranted, don’t tell me it isn’t

Thank fuck for the NHS. It’s not perfect, but it’s infinitely better than this.

Heads up Canada, a lot of us are coming up there

And this is why I get really pissed off by people insulting the NHS, whether they’re American or fellow Brits. I had to have corrective spinal surgery when I was 11 and spent two months in hospital. Because I live in Britain, my parents didn’t have to pay anything because guess what, that’s covered by the NHS. However, if I had been American then I’d either be in a wheelchair right now, or my parents would have been bankrupted.

I would ask what’s the point in having the best healthcare in the world (which America does NOT) if only the rich can afford it, but that sort of answers the question doesn’t it?

Welcome to the new internet.

It is very possible, after today, for the internet to be separated into tiers, like cable, forcing you to pay extra to access certain sites. The world wide web won’t be so world wide if you can’t access certain sites because you don’t want to pay an extra $50 to access it.

Paying attention now?

Don’t forget to add your voice! www.savetheinternet.com
Or read more on npr.

Guys, this is important.

I repeat: THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Sign the petition and pass it on!

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN IF WE DON’T DO SOMETHING TO STOP IT. NET NEUTRALITY IS A BIG FUCKING DEAL AND IT’S THE ONLY REASON WE’RE ALL ON HERE TODAY.

Not only does it make it harder for people to afford/access certain websites, but it will make it harder for small businesses and amature websites to continue running online. They will be expected to pay service providers in order to make their site accessible to the public. So this WORKS BOTH WAYS when it comes to hurting online freedom and communication.

tl;dr this will RUIN THE INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT so please sign and do everything you can to help please and thank.

Pay money to see if you want to spend mooney on Amazon

Y’all should really be paying attention to this.

SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT

So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for 6+ hours, and they need AT LEAST 9 HOURS OF SLEEP FOR THEIR DEVELOPING BRAINS, then they may have 0-1 hours for other activities like eating, bathing, exercise, socializing (which is actually incredibly important for emotional, mental, and physical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/habit development thing and required by many parents), relaxation, and family time?  Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons.
