This article on hyposensitivity contains useful tips… but mainly I’m putting it out here for the silly, sweet, diverse drawings of Autistic people and their loved ones having fun!
I basically screamed and started happy stimming all over the place when I saw the picture of the Autistic person sitting on an exercise ball almost exactly like me right now.
Many autistic people have different sensory needs. Some are hyposensitive, meaning we need extra stimulation, and this is what the article covers. Some are hypersensitive, meaning we get overstimulated easily. Many are a mix of both, so don’t be surprised if parts of the article don’t apply to you.
So, see if you learn a few things, and most of all enjoy the art!
(content warning for mild cartoon blood in one image near the end)
Haha oh my gosh. Bless the artist. And bless the contributors. The information itself is actually v good. Good feels and happy stimming for everyone!
I’ve found WikiHow really useful on multiple occasions. This article is spot on and with really REALLY cute art, too. 😀
here’s the problem with people of color being excluded from fantasy and sci fi narratives (additional to the problem with people of color being excluded from all narratives in general):
sci fi/fantasy is supposed to be the realm of “anything is possible.” and when white people remove people of color from the realm of “anything is possible,” the overt implication is that the presence of people of color is what holds us back from achieving the impossible. it’s like, in order to create a beautiful, amazing, fantastic world, we have to kick out all the brown and black people. that’s the point. that’s what they’re saying.
As a Native woman who has been to Standing Rock three times, and whose health now prevents me from making a fourth trip, I have my own asks. Call every number put in front of you. Jam every phone line. Look at the target list of financial institutions supporting this pipeline. Pick a bank. Shut it down, just like we did in Chicago on Saturday and people did in Philadelphia this morning. The Trump administration hasn’t even taken hold yet, and I watched over a livestream last night as my friends and people were battered with water streams that can tear skin from flesh and eyes from sockets. I watched my people hold space and scramble to save one another as drops of water froze to razor wire.
I know marginalized people around the county are organizing for their own survival right now, and sitting around tables discussing the difficult days ahead. But a strategy of protection, defense and obstruction cannot wait for the inauguration of an autocrat. It must be applied here and now.
Please show us that you see us. Please do all you can to stop this.
If you cannot travel to Standing Rock, or support or organize an action where you live, consider contacting one of these Sheriffs and police departments that have loaned out the officers who are abusing Native peoples in Standing Rock. Jam their phone lines and tell them to bring their people home. If your community is on this list, actively organize to recall the deployment.

Reblogging for that anon that sent me that last ask.

hey!! this is a really good resource, but as someone from nebraska, I can tell you that the number for us is wrong! nebraska emergency management does not send out state patrol officers. the governor does. I called the emergency management office just to make sure, and the (rather irritated) woman confirmed that they had no influence over state patrol officers being sent and currently had none of their own people there. so, call governor pete ricketts’ office instead of the number here!
here’s the thing about manipulative people: they will continue to manipulate you long after you’ve cut them from your life.
they’ll manipulate your words, your actions, your personality when they retell the story to themselves, to mutual friends, to people you don’t even know. and they will retell it, because in the retelling, they get to be the victim, and they can use it to manipulate even more people into feeding the need for attention and sympathy that rules their lives.
it can be maddening after the fact, to think about the control they still hold over the narrative, but you have to remember that you are not that narrative. they manipulate what you left in your wake because they no longer have you to manipulate. and you’ve come out the winner either way, because all they have to cling to is that narrative and its details, but you? you’re free of them for good and you are so much better for it.
“The current buildup of tremendous force at Standing Rock should be understood as a military invasion of a sovereign nation on behalf of a foreign oil company.”
This is 100% accurate. Native lands are NOT UNITED STATES TERRITORY. They were NEVER ceded to our government and our government SIGNED TREATIES acknowledging this! But now a foreign oil company says their lands are in the way and so on behalf of this foreign interest our government has sent military forces to invade the land so they can sell it off to be destroyed for profit
I mean, consider for a moment what would have happened if we tried to do this in *spins wheel* France. It’s unthinkable, right? We wouldn’t have even got this far. We would’ve asked France, “hey, can we build a pipeline on your land?” and when they said “No”, we would have been forced to accept that as an answer and that would have been the end of the issue. Because we respect their sovereignty.
I’ve said this before and I’ll point it out again –
Menstruation is caused by change in hormonal levels to stop the creation of a uterine lining and encourage the body to flush the lining out. The body does this by lowering estrogen levels and raising testosterone.
Or, to put it more plainly “That time of the month” is when female hormones most closely resemble male hormones. So if (cis) women aren’t suited to office at “That time of the month” then (cis) men are NEVER suited to office.
If you are a dude and don’t dig the ladies around you at their time of the month, just think! That is you all of the time.
And, on a final note, post-menopausal (cis) women are the most hormonally stable of all human demographics. They have fewer hormonal fluctuations of anyone, meaning older women like Hilary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren would theoretically be among the least likely candidates to make an irrational decision due to hormonal fluctuations, and if we were basing our leadership decisions on hormone levels, then only women over fifty should ever be allowed to hold office.
Reblogging hard for that last comment.
I WANTED TO SAY THIS BUT THEN SOMEONE ELSE DID and I’m damn proud.
