I remember first learning that you can cry from any emotion, that emotions are chemical levels in your brain and your body is constantly trying to maintain equilibrium. so if one emotion sky rockets, that chemical becomes flagged and signals the tear duct to open as an exit to release that emotion packaged neatly within a tear. Everything made sense after learning that. That sudden stability of your emotions after crying. How crying is often accompanied by the inability to feel any other emotion in that precise moment. And it is especially beautiful knowing that it is even possible to experience so much beauty or love or happiness that your body literally can’t hold on to all of it. So what I’ve learned is that crying signifies that you are feeling as much as humanely possible and that is living to the fullest extent. So keep feeling and cry often and as much as needed

Also let yourself cry. It really is a biochemical release valve to dump out all the chemicals that make you feel stuff.

I honestly think one reason men in western culture have so many problems is that we don’t let them cry, and literally their brains get stuffed with all this crap that doesn’t have a release valve. Men, please cry. You’ll feel better. It’s ok. You are not lesser for taking care of your health.

This is why tears from different emotions look different under an electron microscope. They’re literally made up of different things. 

Happy tears are structurally different than sad tears than angry tears than overwhelmed tears etc.

If you think 12 year olds are too young for tattoos but can decide on hormone therapy, there is something wrong with you.

If you think a picture on your body for cosmetic reasons and life-saving medication for a serious medical condition are in any way comparable, there is something wrong with you.

Furthermore, no 12 year old goes on hormone therapy. They go on puberty blockers once puberty kicks in, which does nothing more than delay puberty and has been found by studies to be safe, extremely helpful to transgender children, and completely reversible should the child not go through with transition. It buys them time so they can make the decision once they’re older.

When you advocate against transgender teenagers going on puberty blockers, you advocate for more transgender teen suicides.

These are necessary and often live-saving treatments for very distressing medical conditions. Stop comparing them to something as unnecessary as fucking tattoos.

i love sweden. i love my country. when terrorism hits us we open our home to people who can’t get home, we lend out our phones to strangers so they can call their relatives to check if they are okay, we invite strangers to dinner and for coffee.

when someone wanted to divide us, we came together and became more united than ever before.

people are standing on the streets handing out food to our police force who’s been working non stop since the attack, people are giving out fruit and coffee to people who are exhausted from walking to and from work since the subway and busses are cancelled.

i mean, maybe this is my inner “survivor of child abuse” talking, but I am not going to tell abusive parents that they’re bad at bringing up their children without a bullet proof plan with regards to how I could protect my student from the emotional and physical backlash of that meeting.

Important thing to remember about intervening in abuse in general. Any actions taken by others to hold the abuser accountable WILL be taken out on the victim and not the person doing the confronting. Do not confront an abuser about their actions unless you know for absolute certain that you can protect their victim from the fallout.

Like, listen you putrid chuckleheads, we’re trying to have a fucking society here, and part of that is taking care of your fellow fucking human beings. Paying taxes for things you might not use is part of that. And if you view that as theft, you’re a dumb shit who can go live on your own in the tundra and see how well you do.
