And you just know that right around the corner that crow got into his faded orange VW Kombi van with the surfboards strapped on top and hit the beach.

This crow is 100% fucking around for no reason other than to fuck around. Birds have two main gaits depending on where they live – they put one foot in front of the other if they live on the ground, or they hop if they live in the trees. Crows live on the ground, and thus walk. They have no reason to hop like this, and they aren’t wired or built to move like this naturally. They might hop to quickly avoid danger that’s very limited, like a car tire coming at them, or to get up onto the curb, but this sort of motion has no purpose other than being fun.

having a material lifestyle in accordance with your morals (eg buying fair trade coffee, going to farmers markets, composting) is admirable but it becomes concerning when people think those are the sole actions they need to take for their causes, when at the most, they are supplementary to presumably the real goal of social change. and they don’t make you morally superior to people who aren’t living life as “pure” as you are. capitalism is designed to keep those who are most oppressed by it, dependent on it. if you are able to break out of this cycle, it means you had the privilege to choose when others did not. direct your anger & moral outrage toward the capitalists that actually perpetuate that system, not toward someone who can only afford to go to wal-mart.

Do you guys know why I’m so adamant about you vaccinating your kids?

I’m immunocomprimised. It means my immune system is weakened. I have very weak lungs and I rely on herd immunity to stay safe.

I’m allergic to the shot people get for whooping cough. How do I know? I had a 3 week, painful reaction. Now, this was a while ago, before shit hit the fan with the whole anti-vax movement.

But do you know what my doctor told me? It was safer for me to get the shot that I’m ALLERGIC TO than rely on herd immunity because if I get the shot, I’ll be in moderate-severe pain for about 3 weeks max. If I get the disease, I will die. My lung capacity is bad enough, but my body is too weak to fight the disease.

So not only are you putting your child’s life at risk by not vaccinating them, you’re putting mine and all the other people who cannot be vaccinated at risk because of a selfish decision that isn’t backed by science.

for those who don’t know, immunocompromised people are fucking everywhere. most commonly, they are cancer patients. all cancer patients, plus many other people with many other diseases are immunocompromised! it’s a staggering number of people. and i myself had a disease, other than cancer, that had me so compromised that even a common cold could literally kill me

so when you don’t vaccinate your kids, or even yourself for that matter, you’re putting all of us at risk!
