DO NOT

FORCE SHY KIDS

TO TALK.

DO NOT

TELL SHY KIDS

THEY NEED TO PARTICIPATE MORE.

DO NOT

MAKE PARTICIPATION

A GRADE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA

HOW HARD IT IS

FOR SOME STUDENTS

TO JUST RAISE THEIR HANDS?

FORCING THEM INTO GROUP PROJECTS

AND MAKING THEM TALK

DOES NOT “TEACH THEM TO BE SOCIAL AND DEVELOP INTO WELL-ROUNDED INDIVIDUALS”

IT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF THEM.

AND MAKES THEM HATE SCHOOL.

SERIOUSLY.

COLLEGES TOO.

THERE IS NO REASON TO REQUIRE A PARTICIPATION GRADE.

IF I’M MAKING 90′S ON ALL MY TESTS/QUIZZES

IT MEANS I KNOW THE DAMN MATERIAL YOU TAUGHT

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD YOU LOWER MY GRADE 10% JUST BECAUSE I DIDN’T TALK ENOUGH.

I SWEAR IF I GET ANOTHER “B” IN A CLASS THAT I EXCELLED IN JUST BECAUSE I DIDNT FEEL LIKE RAISING MY HAND TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

I MIGHT ACTUALLY KILL U

PREACH

I may not be shy but I agree with you 100% about the whole participation part !

Seriously. Especially when it’s 20% of my grade

when its 30% of your grade tho, gotta love it

As a shy person I am 100% here for this.

I concur. Especially if they have soft voices and shy. I could barely speak loud on a good day.

Yea it all sucks ass.

Not only is it a passive aggressive attack on introverts, but autistic and socially-impaired people are basically doomed to fail from the start when you require specific interactions.

And can we please do away with the requirement for team projects? This is just another way to force people into situations they’re not comfortable in, especially when we all know how team projects work. One person plans everything, they delegate to the rest of the group what needs to be done, but because people are flakes, one person executes everything and the grade is given to all the members based on the stress one person dealt with.

If someone would rather just do the work themselves (rather than go through all the bs to end up doing it all themselves anyway), why not allow that instead of forcing them to try to work with 3-7 other people all with their own set of issues and obstacles?
