Ok, I know we’ve got all these evil little headcanons about Ridge, and shippy stuff to, but can you just imagine Ridge finding a little boy or girl thay’d been orphaned, and sorta just raising them. And years later when the kid is older, they’re good buddies, and really snarky towards one another, and the kid is the only person he really confides in. And then imagine years later, while Ridge is still the same age, the kid is all old, sick, and dying. And Ridge is there, looking at this person he raised and…. I’ll shut up now. I kinda made myself sad.

Just imagine how sad it would be if it were a woman he met, and then they fell in love and as she aged he scoured the planet to look for a way, magic or technological to extend her life too so they would be able to stay together. Only when he has still found nothing but receives a message that she has fallen into a coma and he returns home she is old and dying and he realizes that he spent all that time, those years, away when really he should have been here, with her, enjoying life together in the fleeting time that she had. And then like.. he only had 6 days together left before she died and he stayed by her bed until the very end and He mourns for her every day and that’s why he can’t get close to anyone ever again.

yeah…that would be pretty sad… If it were true…heh…
