What’s your opinion on people with canon yogscast urls? I’ve always kinda felt like I’m unfairly holding this url from the actual nilesy, but i’m curious what your opinion is!

I’ve never been a fan, honestly. We get enough people pretending they’re us as it is, and hear about people saying “I saw Yogscast X saying this…” and it turns out it’s some random person who had our name. I know it’s not malicious most of the time, but going around with an account name called YogscastRythian or something – well… Why? What do you gain from that? All you’re doing is confusing people, and more often than not, causing issues for the person you’re “impersonating”, even if that’s not your intention. Yes, some say “oh it’s okay, I say I’m not the real person on my about page” – but people won’t see that at a glance.

Before I even had a tumblr account there was someone who was called “iamrythian” and used my profile picture. I had lots of people asking me about the things that person was saying on that tumblr. I think there’s still people with accounts named after my real name which I find really creepy.

That’s not even beginning to mention how many of us can’t just have proper account names because people have just taken them.
